Who is IDE?

A multidisciplinary automotive design studio.

IDE works at the intersection of design, graphics and execution.

Our roots in transportation design shape the way we approach every project. We don't see a vehicle simply as a surface to work on, but as a designed object — where proportion, form, character lines, materials and brand identity are all part of the outcome.

That thinking has taken us across very different worlds — from individual vehicles and commercial fleets to industrial products and automotive OEMs.

Our Story

An idea is only as good as what it becomes.

We began as automotive designers.

Our training taught us to obsess over ideas — proportion, surfaces, materials, details and the relationship between them.

But it also taught us something more important.

Design doesn't end when the drawing is finished. What happens afterwards matters just as much. How something is developed. How it is produced. How it is installed. How it performs in the real world.

Yet these disciplines often operate independently, with the original idea becoming diluted somewhere between the screen and the finished product.

In 2013, we set out to build a different kind of studio — one where design and execution could exist together. Where understanding how something is made would make us better designers, and understanding why something was designed would make us better makers.

That became IDE.
